A crowd of around 150 people gathered at Barking FC on Sunday for a tribute game to teenage former Clapton player Joshua Bwalya.
16-year-old Joshua, known as JB, was found stabbed to death in the street on August 2nd following reports of a disturbance after a party at a local community centre.
JB used to play for Clapton’s youth set-up at under 14 level, but had later transferred to Barking.
So the two club’s youth teams took part in a memorial game with all proceeds going to his bereaved family.
A minute’s silence was held before the game, which resulted in a a 6-3 win for his old Barking team-mates.
More importantly over £1000 was raised. You can donate to the fund here.
Joshua’s funeral is yet to be set as his body has not yet been released to the family.
